My hand stayed that swollen because the bones could not be reattached until the contusions above my left eye healed. I'd poke at my hand with my right finger and it felt like a plastic toy.

I posed for this photo so that Willy Sid, then back in Pineville, Louisiana, might get a laugh. My cap read Pancake Pantry, Nashville. A week later I was hit by the car and every bit of clothing you see here was torn by my bone or by the pavement or by the paramedics.

Whereas my arm and head were shaking around little chunks of bone and flakes of dried blood, this photo shows where the Dodge Daytona made the initial point of contact with my ragdoll frame. I was starting to get severe headaches by the first night in the hospital, and the shee pattern beneath me wasn't helping my vision one bit. To be continued. Wayne

I remember being in the ambulance with the EMT, telling him not to cut through my jacket sleeve. I had just bought it for $250 at Carson's and it was Australian suede. He shut me up quick by saying, buddy, it don't really matter because you have both bones sticking outta your left sleeve. Being the tough guy I am, I passed out again. To be continued.

The blond colored building in the center of the photo used to be California Chiropractic and I crossed the street at an angle to get to the bus stop you see in the previous photo. At the point of the yellow divider line I was struck by a Dodge Daytona. I was unconscious for fifteen minutes, my chiropractor watching over me until the paramedics showed. Back home in my word processor, page 243 of my novel would gather dust for the next 68 days....Wayne
